What you need to sell to us

Selling is straightforward, but as a licensed second-hand dealer (NSW Second-hand Dealer Licence 2PS28242) we’re required to verify your identity and record a few details before completing any purchase.

What happens at the counter

Alongside the valuation itself, NSW second-hand dealer regulations require us to record your ID details and a description of the item(s) purchased. You’ll also be asked to declare that you are the legal owner of the item, or are authorised by the owner to sell it — this declaration is a standard part of every transaction, not something specific to your sale. These records protect you as much as they protect us, and are handled in line with our Privacy Policy.

Frequently asked questions

What ID do I need to sell gold in NSW? +

A current Australian driver licence, passport, or other government-issued photo ID. This is a legal requirement for licensed second-hand dealers in NSW and protects you as the seller.

Do I need to prove I own the item? +

You don’t need documentary proof such as a receipt or valuation certificate for most items. However, as part of the sale you’ll be asked to confirm you are the legal owner (or are authorised to sell on the owner’s behalf), and this declaration is recorded alongside your ID as required under NSW second-hand dealer regulations.

What if I am under 18? +

NSW second-hand dealer regulations require sellers to be 18 or over. A parent or guardian can attend and transact on behalf of a minor.

Is my information kept confidential? +

Your ID and transaction details are recorded as required under NSW second-hand dealer regulations, which may include the record being made available to NSW Police on lawful request. Beyond that legal requirement, your details are not shared or used for marketing. See our Privacy Policy for full detail.
